Galeria Pacifico

A couple of photos from Galeria Pacifico, an upscale shopping mall in Buenos Aires Centro just off of main shopping and tourist Mile Florida Street. Galeria Pacifico hosts 4 levels of retail stores and restaurants, most of them devoted to apparel, cosmetics and shoes. It's a nice venue to hang out for a couple of hours on a nice day. It would be nice to be rich and actually be able to buy stuff :-)
Kawasan Waterfalls Cebu

Eco tourism is pretty popular in South Philippines. One of the nicest waterfalls on Cebu Island can be found 2 hours south-west of Cebu City. The taxi drive takes me through mid sized mountains and hills. While descending to the occidental part of the Island a stunning view of Bohol Island and Dumaguete is offered.
Kawasan Falls are a couple of Miles south of Malboal, a well known dive resort. The falls are spreading over three horizontal levels. It takes about 30 minutes to explore the first 2 levels. The water is showing a very nice deep green and blue coloring. There are two recreation areas where people swim right under the waterfalls. It's amazing to feel the torrential power of the water when swimming into the waterfall. It's cold and strong. Don't underestimate the weight and take a deep breath before you cross the line (if you can make it against the strong flow, anyhow).
Unfortunately, Filipinos don't take the expression 'ecological tourism' very serious. When arriving a the top level you can observe locals washing their laundry right beside the water source with soap and detergent. I was a bit shocked to see that and asked why they are doing this: 'Sir, this is fresh water so our clothes get very clean.' Shocking how pollution does not even spare such a nice piece of Philippine nature. Anyhow, it's a nice Cebu daytrip. Swimming and trekking the mountain valley is less of adventure but more of a way to experience Visayan nature.
Cebu Seafood

Salo Salo (eat together) restaurant offering Sutokil on Mactan Island in Cebu, Philippines. Upon entering the restaurant behind Mactan shrine and the Lapu Lapu monument, the Filipino hero who killed Magellan, a large variety of seafoods is presented at the entrance of this typical Filipino restaurant. Pick your fish, squid, oysters and side dish from freshly caught exhibits and have it cooked to your liking. Even with a location close to such a popular tourist spot prices are moderate and well worth the 10 to 15 US$ per person on average. Sutokil means as much as Sugba (grilled), Tola (soup) and Kilaw (fresh salad).
80 Days around the World

When Jules Verne published his novel 'In 80 days around the World' travel was tough and expensive. Times have changed. Traveling can be done by very comfortable and convenient ways of transport in a very short time. Surrounding the world can be done by flight in less than 80 hours if one would like to stay on an airplane for 2 to 3 days. When I saw this domain name 80daily.com I first thought it would be a great name for an online guide about earning 80 Dollars a day with some high yield investment, but I thought it would much nicer fit into being a travel related blog. So keep an eye on it. I hope to get it kicking soon :-)
